Like many people in marketing, I find myself constantly needing to transfer photos from my phone to my computer. Yes, I use the cloud and I know how to plug my phone into my computer and manually transfer photos. These methods work most of the time, but they are not the most efficient.

Let’s talk about the cloud. I was at a conference and had a lot of high-quality product images that I needed to get to my computer to update my PowerPoint presentation. When I logged into my cloud account on my computer and downloaded the images, for some reason they were no longer high-quality. Transfer them to the cloud degraded the images significantly. I’m not sure if it was because I was not on Wi-Fi and it was an attempt to lower bandwidth, but I just knew that I did not have the high quality images that I needed. I just needed an easy way to get my photos from my phone to my computer.

So, since the cloud was up so reliable, I plug my phone into my computer to manually transfer them over. The problem was that the images where in my cloud service app and not on my camera roll. I only have access to the camera roll on my phone through my computer. After some fiddling, I was able to copy the images to my camera roll and then finally to my computer. This process was much more painful and time consuming than it should have been. The last frustrating piece was once I did access the photos from my phone, they were stored in a dozen random folders with no way for me to find the most recent. I spent half an hour sifting through the photos before finding the ones I needed.

There had to be an easier way. After a bit of research, I found the Photo Backup Stick. It claimed too easily backup photos from your phone to a USB drive. That wasn’t why I bought this product rather than just a simple USB drive. One specific feature caught my eye. After completing your first backup, and taking more photos, when you do another backup, it only backs up the new photos. This means that it was easy for me to quickly transfer only new photos to the USB drive, plug it into my computer, and easily find the new images by sorting the images by new. Now, I don’t have to rely on unreliable cloud services, good Wi-Fi connections, or plugging my phone into my computer and searching for the new images. I simply plug my Photo Backup Stick into my phone, hit the backup button, then plug the USB drive into my computer. It saves me time and effort and I know that I have a backup of all of my photos of my phone, personal and otherwise.
